I believe he's better...many people will believe that. But it doesn't change what he did. He has to do his time like a responsible citizen, co-operate with the police and make up for the mistakes he made.

That no one would give him a chance to speak and try to explain things from his point of view without jumping down his throat?

That's why I want to help him while I'm still incapacitated in the hospital. Yes, it's risky, but I know for a fact that he's changed for good, and if any bad guys get any funny ideas about turning him back to evil, then I'll kick their ass. He's my problem, but also my friend, and I want to show him that he's not alone.
