He definitely wasn't kidding when he said training would be hard.

I think you've met your match, sister, just so you're aware.

I'm going to...soak in the hot spring and hope this knot in my back goes away.

[identity profile] littlecancerboy.livejournal.com 2010-04-24 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you didn't break a nail.

[identity profile] soul-on-light.livejournal.com 2010-04-24 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I probably did, so my nails look like crap. I don't care, though.

[identity profile] takashi-waku.livejournal.com 2010-04-24 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Why are you training.

[identity profile] soul-on-light.livejournal.com 2010-04-24 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I am a warrior.

No, the real answer is so that I can get stronger and understand my teammates' strengths.

[identity profile] takashi-waku.livejournal.com 2010-04-24 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Nice.

[identity profile] soul-on-light.livejournal.com 2010-04-24 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

She'll do this thing when she gets out of training, trust me.

Thank you, peanut gallery. I feel the love.

Any time, Hoshi.

Ugh.

[identity profile] pidonus.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
... A knot in the back?

Erm... I know a heated-massage technique...

... Do I know anything useful besides massage and relaxation?

[identity profile] soul-on-light.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
N-No...that's okay. No pain, no gain, huh?

[identity profile] pidonus.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
... I'm... Honestly not so certain about that, Hoshi.

Maybe during the exercise, pain is the sign that you're improving, but after that, pain represents potential standing issues. You're human, Hoshi, and you regenerate like one... Read, extremely slowly if the injury is very significant.

Working pains away regularly would really help you last longer on extreme training regimens like what you're implying. Especially if it's something like a knot in the back.

[identity profile] soul-on-light.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
If I need to, I remember what kind of regimens I was put under when I did physical rehabilitation to exercise things out of my back. I'm not gonna end up crippled.

[identity profile] pidonus.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
I guess, just...

I don't know. Maybe I'm just a worry-wart, but doing what you can to best take care of yourself in as many ways as possible seems wise...

[identity profile] soul-on-light.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 09:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that does seem wise, but I don't want to fail anymore. I want to try to be the best Hikari-Kyoyama Hoshi I can be.

[identity profile] pidonus.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
... It's one thing to be the best you can be... But quite another to run yourself so hard trying to avoid failing everyone that you destroy yourself and end up failing everyone.

It's finding the balance that'll be the key. To know when you can take help... And when you most need to give it.

It's... What I think I have to start doing. For everyone.

[identity profile] soul-on-light.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 09:14 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, balance...

I'll be fine, Pidonus. Thank you very much for your concern.

[identity profile] pidonus.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
R... Right.

Hrm... Given how much you're going through, I should probably find another to train with for now in martial arts, huh?

[identity profile] soul-on-light.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I don't mind continuing your training. Just give me a few days to work through this pain and whatnot, okay?

[identity profile] pidonus.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
Right...

Hoshi, please, don't overexert yourself...

[identity profile] soul-on-light.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 10:38 am (UTC)(link)
I thought you realized when you kidnapped her that she's not the type to rest easily.

...Tsubasa...

What? It's true.

You could be a little less abrasive, you know.

No one got anywhere without a little toughness, y'know.

...Ugh.

But, yeah. What lunkhead--

I feel the love. Really. After savin' your ass--

Please. Continue, Hoshi.

Thank you, Asuka. What lunkhead said was true. I'm not gonna tire myself out by running from Point A to Point B, Pidonus!

Just curious Hoshi...are you refusing her help because you think it'll somehow cheapen the effects of your training or is there something deeper behind it?

[identity profile] badluckbabe.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Annoyingly stubborn isn't she?

[identity profile] pidonus.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
... It's not just a matter of rest, Hoshi.

Every being has their limits. To be 'tough' is to not fear them... But to not acknowledge them at all only winds up...

No kidding... I have to try and keep trying, though. If she runs herself this ragged every time, though...

We do what we can...sometimes that hard headed personality is too much to argue away with logic and reasoning. Just something about the world she's from I think.

I mean these are people who apparently get stronger after they die and coming back from the dead. Where I come from dead is dead is dead...well...except when it isn't but even then people don't typically come back stronger.

...

*What's with that last sentence? Pid's breathing shifted right when you said that.*

... Perhaps, but even then... To burn yourself out entirely is physiologically very possible.

Oh goodness yes especially in this world where the rules change.

I dunno I haven't dissected Hoshi's reasoning for why she does things yet but I can guess from how long I've known her it's just how she's always done things.

Push herself till she nearly breaks then suffer and rest, lather rinse repeat. She fights the same way like she has a death wish using attacks that nearly kill her so often.

Her "Sister" is Anna, a strict but effective trainer who makes sure that while they may be in pain they are never broken nor pushed too far. Frankly I worry when Hoshi isn't studying under Anna because she may not have caught on to how much is enough.
